Montague rallied from an early deficit to defeat Shelby Monday in its West Michigan Conference opener, 2-1.
The Wildcats (5-2, 1-0 WMC) tied things up early in the second half when Trevor Trevino maneuvered through three defenders and put in a goal from a sharp angle. Trevin Silvers passed to Trevino to precede the goal.
With about 10 minutes left, Montague took advantage of a heads-up play on a restart of action after the match was temporarily stopped due to a Tiger cramping up. When play resumed, Trevino provided pressure on a pass, setting up Isaiah Towne to intercept it. Trevino then accepted a pass from Towne and raced to the goal for the winning score.
