Reeths-Puffer golf 13th at two-day Traverse City Invitational

Reeths-Puffer held its own against an impressive field of 25 teams at last week's two-day Traverse City Invitational, earning a 13th-place finish.

Sophia McCollum led the team with a 93-78-171, finishing fourth in the field on day 2. She converted 3 straight birdies on holes 4-6 during her impressive second round. Rowan Bluhm added a 87-90-177, a 35-shot improvement over her score in the same event a year ago.

Also scoring for R-P were Olivia Ambler, who shot a 101-106-207, and Ella Voorhies, who carded a 118-124-242.

“I enjoy participating in this tournament," Rockets' coach Matt Pallett said. "We play two tough courses that really challenge our mental game. Each girl had to battle through some adversity over the two days. I am pleased with how the girls played and how they handled their adversity. This tournament will make us better.”

The Rockets' rival, Mona Shores, finished seventh in the tournament, paced by Mayson Southland, who tied for the #2 individual spot in the standings.
