Led by Bluhm's career-best 78, Reeths-Puffer golf takes 3rd at league tournament

Reeths-Puffer finished in third place at Thursday's mid-season O-K Green Conference tournament, played at Grand Valley State's The Meadows.
The Rockets' team score was 368, their best of the season, led by Rowan Bluhm's career-best 78. The 368 marked a 21-stroke improvement from an early-season meet at the same course.
Bluhm, who took second place overall, had several terrific holes on the way to her 78, scoring an eagle on the par-5 first hole and consecutive birdies on #16 and #17. Coach Matt Pallett said Bluhm's tee shot on the par-3 17th came inches from finding the cup for a hole-in-one.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Rowan Bluhm," Pallett said. "She has had a personal goal of shooting a round in the 70s and today was her day. She is an extremely hard worker. She is an amazing person and leader for this team.”
Sophia McCollum posted an 89 for R-P, good for eighth place. She also had a strong showing on hole #1, scoring a birdie.
Olivia Ambler posted a 95 - an 11-stroke improvement from her last outing on The Meadows - and drained a birdie putt on the 9th hole. Ella Voorhies also made a birdie, her first ever in competition, on the 4th hole on the way to her score of 106.
“I am very proud of the team today," Pallett said. "Several of the girls have recently struggled with their swings. Today they battled through it and figured some things out.”
