Montague soccer picks up 6th straight win, beating Orchard View

Montague downed Orchard View Monday, 3-1, to remain undefeated in West Michigan Conference play.
It was Montague's second 3-1 win over the Cardinals this season, having already won a game by that score in the season-opening Oakridge tournament. The 'Cats improved to 9-2 overall and 4-0 in the league, earning their sixth straight win.
The Wildcats' Trevor Trevino had another impressive game on offense, scoring two goals in the win. Lucas Husband added a goal by cashing in on a penalty kick after he was fouled in the box, and also assisted one of Trevino's goals.
Montague mighthave had a fourth goal with seven minutes to play, but OV took down Javari Aldridge as he was racing to the net. The Cardinal defender was sent off with a red card and OV was forced to play a man down the rest of the game.
"OV is a solid team," Montague coach Brandon Mahoney said. "Good passing in the midfield for them and good physical play by the defenders definitely slowed our attack and possession."
