Montague soccer winning streak snapped by Fremont, 3-1

Montague suffered its first West Michigan Conference loss of the season Wednesday night, and its first of any kind in 11 games, dropping a 3-1 decision to Fremont.
The loss knocks the Wildcats (13-3, 7-1 WMC) into a first-place tie with North Muskegon. The two teams play next Wednesday in the final regular-season game for the Wildcats.
Hunter Phipps scored Montague's only goal of the game.
"We struggled to get passing going and had several missed opportunities," Montague coach Brandon Mahoney said. "Our focus now turns towards finishing conference play and the (district) tournament."
