Reeths-Puffer achieved a season-long team goal Thursday, taking
second place in the final O-K Green Conference jamboree, played at The
Meadows.
It was the first time this season the Rockets have
reached the top two in a jamboree. R-P shot a team score of 181, just
one stroke off its season-best nine-hole score from the day before at
its home jamboree.
Sophia McCollum led the Rockets Thursday, shooting a 40. She scored a birdie and finished in third place individually.
“Sophia had a great round tonight," R-P coach Matt Pallett said. "She is a competitor and really wants
to win. Sometimes she puts a little too much pressure on herself to
always be perfect. She is a great player and she played some really
solid golf tonight."
Ella Voorhies set a career best score,
shooting a 46 to tie Rowan Bluhm for the #2 score on the team. Olivia
Ambler put up a score of 49, marking the first time all season that all
four scoring Rockets shot under a 50 in a nine-hole event.
“I like the potential of this team down the stretch," Pallett said. "I have two players,
with Rowan and Sophia, at the top of my lineup that are really 1A and 1B
on this team. They have led the way despite not having great nights
together yet."
