Reeths-Puffer went 1-2 at Saturday's West Ottawa Invitational,
though coach Justin Birr continues to be encouraged by the progress of
his young roster.
The Rockets' win came over the host Panthers
in three close games, 26-24, 20-25, 25-22. Holland Christian (25-12,
25-19) and Traverse City West (25-13, 25-7, 25-21) each beat
Reeths-Puffer. With the results, the Rockets' record went to 8-7 on the
year.
Alissa Klopp led the R-P offense with 18 kills - 11
of them in the win over West Ottawa - and libero Carlee Brown posted 24
digs. Madilynn Dyer passed out 48 assists. Each of the three, Birr said,
were especially important to R-P's win Saturday.
"I'm
encouraged by the continued growth of our team from match to match," Birr said.
"These girls continue to want to win, and they continue to push
themselves to improve. It's fun to coach a group of girls with that
inner drive to improve and win."
