Reeths-Puffer volleyball scores remarkable comeback win over Spring Lake to cap 2-0 night

Reeths-Puffer delivered one of its strongest wins of recent years Tuesday at Spring Lake, rallying from a two-game deficit to knock off the Lakers in a thrilling match, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-11.
R-P also defeated Saranac at the double dual meet, 25-14, 25-17, 25-9, but the win over the Lakers was the one the team will remember.
"These girls went after it absolutely every play, and they earned a hard-fought victory over a quality opponent," R-P coach Justin Birr said. "This is the first reverse sweep (down 0-2, then won the next three sets) I have coached, and I am so proud of these girls for coming back. This is by far the best we have looked as a team."
Madilynn Dyer had an impressive performance in her first night as the primary setter following teammate Grace Darke's injury, racking up 64 assists in two matches. Alissa Klopp was the most common beneficiary of Dyer's setups, putting down 23 kills. Mady Snyder added 17 kills and a team-high 15 digs, and Mairyn Peterson had 15 kills.
"It was a true team effort, with all 14 players contributing to the positive energy of our team," Birr said. "These seniors were 7-34 last season, and now we have already matched (that win total) at 7-5. We still have parts of our game that need to improve, but I am so proud of our gritty win tonight."
