Stewart Waters won the boys' race Tuesday at the West Michigan Conference Lakes' Fremont jamboree, helping the Whitehall boys team earn a second-place finish.
Waters, who finished in a time of 17:57.7, was one of three boys Vikings to place in the top five. Hunter Parsons placed fourth (18:50.8) and Drew Boeringa was fifth (18:53.4).
Rex Pumford finished 20th for the Vikings (21:08.9) and Matthew Badley closed out scoring with a 29th-place finish (22:58.2).
In the girls' race, Cami Kraai led Whitehall to a third-place team finish, taking third as an individual. Her time was 22:09.9. Adalyn Britton joined her in the individual top 10, placing sixth (23:06.4).
Kassie Sapp (11th, 24:41.1), Corina Mitteer (18th, 27:04.1) and Ella Nicholson (21st, 27:39.6) also scored for the Vikings.
Both Montague teams finished in fifth place. The top individual Wildcat finisher was Alix Draves, who finished 12th in the boys' race in a time of 19:53.7. Joining him in the scoring column were Bucky Aney (19th, 20:48.4), Matthew Leatherman (26th, 22:11.9), Brock Hunter (34th, 24:33.7) and Luke Genter (44th, 25:53.2).
Grace Torsch led the Montague girls, placing 13th in a time of 25:29.3. Other scorers were Grace Reavey (22nd, 27:49.98), Erica Hansen (23rd, 27:51.99), Carmen Howard (41st, 31:34.7) and April Howard (43rd, 32:55.3).
