Whitehall and North Muskegon played to a 4-4 tie Monday in Coastal Conference action thanks to a big win by Evan Schuitema at No. 3 singles.
Schuitema and opponent Gavin Miller went to a third-set tiebreaker that the Viking won, making it a 1-6, 6-0, 10-5 final score that salvaged the tie for his team.
Schuitema was the only Whitehall singles player to win, as the Viking doubles flights carried the day with three impressive straight-set victories. Patrick Cole/Ian Sampson continued their successful campaign with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles, and Evan Thomas/Elijah Roberge dominated in a 6-0, 6-0 triumph at No. 4 doubles. No. 3 pair Remington Whelpley/Cameron Cook picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory.
