Reeths-Puffer's unforgiving O-K Green Conference schedule continued Tuesday with a loss to Division 1 No. 4 Jenison, 25-14, 25-11, 25-17.
"Jenison definitely deserves the state ranking that they have," Rockets' coach Justin Birr said. "They
ran a very efficient offense, and also made smart decisions at the net
every single time. They are a disciplined team that will be hard for
anyone to beat."
Jenison was the fourth straight R-P league foe that is honorable mention or in the top 10 in Division 1, joining Mona Shores, Byron Center and Caledonia. The Rockets are 8-15 overall and 0-4 in league matches.
Birr said he was pleased his team remained competitive throughout most of the match and did not get discouraged by the Wildcats' impressive play.
"I
thought Alissa Klopp executed well against a big block, and I think she
deserves more sets in order to show her strength against quality
opponents like Jenison," Birr said of the senior outside hitter, who had a team-high six kills.
Madilynn Dyer had 12 assists, and Carlee Bowen had four digs. Klopp posted three blocks.
