Whitehall and Montague each ran Saturday in the Portage Invitational, one of the state's biggest annual races.
Adalyn
Britton won the Division 2 Reserve girls' race, posting a time of
20:38.4. The Viking girls only had three finishers in the main Division 2
race, so could not score as a team. Kassie
Sapp was 221st (23:57.8), Reese Hesse placed 229th (24:08.3) and
Samantha Mead finished 239th (24:37.6).
The Vikings took 22nd
place out of 41 schools in the Division 2 boys' race. Stewart Waters led
the team, coming in 23rd with a time of 16:17.6. Hunter Parsons took
60th and had a time of 17:01.7. Drew Boeringa placed 125th (17:53.1),
Rex Pumford was 187th (18:38.8) and Tyler Van Antwerp finished 227th
(19:26.5).
Montague placed 19th out of 40 schools in the
Division 3 boys' race. Nolan Kessler led the way for the 'Cats with a
solid 43rd-place finish and broke his personal best by 24 seconds, with a
time of 17:21.3. Alix Draves was 66th and had a time of 17:43.2. Bucky
Aney finished 113th (18:14.8), Noah Raeth was 168th (18:58.9) and Brock
Hunter was 248th (19:59.5).
In the girls' race, Montague
finished 36th of 38 schools. Grace Torsch finished 166th to lead the
team, posting a time of 23:19.0. Other Wildcat scorers were Erica Hansen
(189th, 23:43.2), Grace Reavey (216th, 24:26.8), April Howard (239th,
24:52.7) and Candela Garcia (345th, 28:48.9).
