Montague got off to a quick start Friday night against Fruitport,
building an early lead that stood up all night long in a 49-34 victory.
The
Wildcats (2-0) outscored Fruitport 12-4 in the first quarter. While
Montague scuffled offensively in the third quarter, they never let the
Trojans get within striking distance. Braylyn Bulema scored 15 points,
and Addison Pranger added 12 in the win.
"We
played a solid four quarters of basketball," Montague coach Jess DeBruin said. "We struggled after half, but
we made some adjustments and were able to execute going into the fourth
quarter to give us a good lead."
