Montague battled Ludington for 32 minutes in a closely contested West Michigan Conference Lakes game Tuesday night before coming out on the short end of the outcome, 44-36.
After falling behind 14-8 in the first quarter, the Wildcats (5-2, 2-2 WMC Lakes) played the Orioles close to even the rest of the game, but coach Jess DeBruin said some key turnovers kept them from celebrating victory.
"We played good basketball tonight," DeBruin said. "Little mistakes and turnovers in crucial times of the game cost us."
Braylyn Bultema led the Wildcat offense with 16 points.
