Reeths-Puffer finished fourth among 17 Division 2 teams competing at Saturday's Lake Michigan Competitive Cheer Officials Association scholarship meet at Byron Center. Montague finished seventh among Division 3 schools in the same meet.
The Rockets scored an impressive 721.46 points in the meet and were less than four points behind third-place Northview. The Wildcats' team score was 664.9 points.
R-P did not get charged with a penalty point during the meet. The Rockets enjoyed especially impressive performances in the first and third rounds. In round one, they scored 228.6 points, tying for second place among D-2 schools, and in round three, they had a score of 291.9, which ranked third and was higher than the score of the D-2 winner, Plainwell.
The Wildcats struggled in round two, being assessed 10 penalty points, but rebounded with their best effort of the day in the final round. They scored 286.3 points in round three, which ranked fourth among the D-3 schools.
