Reeths-Puffer earned its second consecutive state finals bid Saturday, placing fourth at the Division 2 regional meet at Forest Hills Northern by one of the slimmest possible margins.
R-P eked out the final qualifying spot by 0.46 points over fourth-place Northview. It was a close meet all around, as the Rockets were only 21.08 points behind regional champ Plainwell.
The Rockets were in seventh place going into the final round. Northview had narrowly outscored them in the first two rounds, and R-P was also behind Thornapple Kellogg and Mason. R-P, however, delivered a terrific round of 310.6 points in round three to slip past all three foes.
