Whitehall celebrated its veterans night Friday with a 45-34 defeat of West Michigan Conference Lakes opponent Oakridge, halting a four-game losing skid.
The Vikings' Lianne Fagan and Kate Beda organized the veterans celebration, which included a ceremony honoring local veterans and donations of $518 apiece to the White Lake VFW and the Whitehall American Legion. The money was raised by raffling off a cornhole board made by Brian Peets' construction trades class.
On the court, Peyton Schultz had a big game for Whitehall (9-8, 4-5 WMC Lakes), with 16 points, and Clare Westerlund posted a double-double, with 11 points and 13 rebounds.
