Reeths-Puffer junior pitcher Lainey McDaniel picked up right where she left off last season in Thursday's opening game against Northview, recording 15 strikeouts in a 4-1 victory over Northview.
McDaniel surrendered six hits and didn't give up her only run until R-P already had a commanding lead.
The Rockets only got five hits at the plate, but took advantage of a walk, an error and some wild pitches to push two early runs across in the second inning, adding another unearned run in the third. McDaniel got the Rockets' only extra-base hit, a double, and Abbie Critchett had a hit and an RBI.
